There is no standard performance measurement for RCIED jammer as opposed to cellular jammer.
We would like to present the standardized testing method which objectifies the various demands from buyers. Through this, we would like to present the standard for performance test which both parties could understand. so that it will not be unilateral performance test and it does not cause the controversy issues when a project is running.
There are several characteristics when it comes to a jammer.
First, A RCIED must block the all frequency bands. In other words, A RCIED jammer must block all wireless communication device including a cellular phone. Therefore, a jammer must transmit wideband signals by the nature of a jammer product.
Second, A RCIED jammer must block the communication device which has various output. Its characteristic is the main indicator for performance measure. That is because, a cellular jammer must block particular frequency bands and signal. But the band which a RCIED Jammer should block covers the all bands device which has various RF power. So it is not a simple work. Therefore, if there is no standard for it, the situation where both parties cannot be satisfied might occur.
For these two reasons, It is needed for RCIED jammer to have a standardized performance measure method. Its method can be applied to a cellular jammer not just for a RCIED jammer.
Now, let’s discuss about the performance measure method. Please find out below picture. In this picture, there are three factors which are a transmitter, a receiver, and a jammer.
The transmitter means a device or a trigger which transmits a signal for operating a RCIED. The transmitter uses the product which has various frequency and various output. Normally, the walkie-talkie, the RC Controller and the radio remote control of car are used.
The receiver means a RCIED. That is to say a RCIED. it means every receiver which corresponds with a transmitter.
The jammer is the device which interrupts the communication between the transmitter and the receiver.
Now, there are two distances for performance measurement. The one is Dr, and the other one is Dj. The two distances are as follow. The Dr is the distance between the receiver and the transmitter. The Dj is the distance between the jammer and the receiver. The Dr is the fixed distance and the Dj is the fluid distance. The fluid distance appears when it continues its movement.
Normally, there is 300 meter distance between the transmitter and the receiver, the distance which the receiver keeps its blocking is called Dj. The testing method is as follows. The person who has a transmitter keeps the distance (it is Dr.) and the jammer keeps moving in one direction. At this time, the receiver checks the success or failure of reception. When the message of transmitter is received, the movement of jammer stops, and write down the distance at this moment. this distance is interrupting performance.
The advantage of this testing method is that the receiving level of receiver is almost constant. Therefore, it is possible to check how long the jammer can block under the consistent reception level.
The weakness of its method is that the receiving level of receiver changes according to the output of the transmitter. So the reception level of a 5W transmitter and 10 transmitter is different.
Therefore, this interrupting performance test method can be a good method when conducting the performance comparison test with existing equipment.
Another interrupting performance test method is as follows. A jammer is in position, and the receiver moves from the jammer. At this moment, the transmitter also moves keeping distance from the receiver. The instructions in this method is that the person in charge must determine the transfer unit by meter. If the transfer unit is too short, the total test time is too long and if the transfer unit is too long, the test could be meaningless. Normally, the transfer unit is 50m. In other words, Dj moves from jammer by 50 meters, at this site, DR is measured. The measurement method is as follows. The transmitter moves from the receiver until the content of transmission is cut. When the transmitter’s communication content is cut, the distance at this moment is called Dj.
In the first method, Dr is fixed and Dj is fluid. In this second method, Dj is fixed and Dr is fluid.
The weakness of this interrupting performance test method is that the receiver keeps moving. So reception level can be constantly changed. Especially, in the case of cellphone test, the location keeps changing. So it is hard to verify the interrupting performance.
The advantage of this interrupting performance test method is that it is possible to know the break distance of jammer in the real field. That is because, the receiver is at the long distance with jammer as the center and the break distance between the receiver and the transmitter is measured.
As mentioned above, we saw the interrupting performance test of jammer. The above-mentioned way is objective method even though there are several other interrupting performance tests.
